The Fox activity is an excellent educational resource if you are working on a project about foxes or if you are tutors of the Foxes class.
The fox is one of the most beloved animals for boys and girls. But what is a fox really like? Are they cunning, as they are described in the stories? Do they really have this characteristic white tip at the end of the tail?
Seeing a fox in person is a rare thing. Give your students the special opportunity to meet Nikki, an orphaned fox that grew up in a house before arriving at the Zoo of the Pyrenees wildlife refuge.

Animals participating in the Fox activity for schools
In the workshop the students will meet 6 animals. Their presence will delight the boys and girls, but above all it will support the explanations about the function of this nocturnal predator in nature. What does it feed on? Is it dangerous? Who is its predator?
Development of the Fox activity for schools
Previous
The students receive the booklet «Hallucinating facts about the foxc» and a booklet to work on the topic before the activity.
Arrival
15 minutes before the activity begins, the team of educators arrives with the animals and prepares the space where the activity will take place.
Meeting Nikki
The team explains the rules of the activity and Nikki the fox enters. The students have the opportunity to observe the animal, and while she is smelling them and gets close to them, we talk about the amazing facts about these cunning animals.
Animals that are prey
Once the students have all the questions answered, we bring some of the animals they feed on in the wild. How does the fox hunt? And what are the strategies used by these animals to avoid being caught?
Predators
The cunning and agile fox must always be on alert for the presence of an eagle. Thus, in the complex web of nature, each living being plays a vital role, reminding us of the interconnection and balance that exists in our fascinating natural world.
End of activity
The students clean their hands and the Zoo of the Pyrenees team returns the space where the activity took place to its original state. They load the animals and leave.
Although during the workshop we deal with complex topics, the explanations are done in a way that is understandable for the students. However, if the activity is for nursery school, the explanations will be limited and we will concentrate on sensory discoveries (curiosity and observation).
